Who we are

What we store

SalaryMap stores two things in your browser's localStorage:

  • Your dark mode preference
  • Calculator input values (so your figures persist between visits)
  • Your analytics cookie preference (whether you accepted or declined cookies)

All calculations happen entirely in your browser. None of this data is ever sent to our servers or to any third party.

URL state

Calculator values are encoded in the page URL so you can share or bookmark your results. This data stays in your browser and is never transmitted to us.

Legal basis

We store your preferences under legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Remembering your settings makes the tool work properly between visits.

Analytics cookies are processed under consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and PECR Regulation 6). You can withdraw consent at any time.

Cookies

When you accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner, Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors and track page views. These cookies are only set after you consent via the cookie banner.

Purpose: Understanding which tools and content are most useful so we can improve the site.

Withdraw consent: Decline via the cookie banner on your next visit, or clear your browser's localStorage and site data.

If you decline or dismiss the banner, no analytics cookies are set.

Third parties

When analytics consent is granted, anonymised usage data is shared with Google via Google Analytics. No advertising cookies are used and no data is sold to third parties.

Google Analytics data retention is set to 14 months. No user-level data is stored on SalaryMap servers.

Data retention

localStorage data persists until you clear your browser data. We hold no data on our servers.

Your rights

Because all data is stored locally in your browser, you are already in full control of it. To exercise your right to erasure, clear your browser's localStorage or use your browser's “Clear site data” option. To access your data, open your browser's developer tools and inspect localStorage.

Children

SalaryMap is not directed at children under 13.
